My name is Zed Sheng, I am a gay Asian content creator and performer based in New York.

I have been in this industry for slightly over a year. I have been speaking to many fellow creators and found that industry standards for rates vary wildly, especially for AAPI content creators based in North America in an industry where race is often perceived as a fetish. I have also been low-balled several times, and felt I didn't have enough information to negotiate for a rate I deserved.

My hope with collecting this data is to collate it into a common document that can be circulated among AAPI SW/creators, so we will be better equipped with information when approached by clients and folks from the industry.

I know rates will vary based on your location and specific context, but do try to be as candid as possible with your answers. This survey is "anonymous" - i.e. no personal information is collected. (beyond 'cookies' so you can head back here to edit your answers and to make sure there are no repeated entries that might skew the data.)
