    GENERAL NOTES:

    All construction shall conform to the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers “Standard Specifications for water and sewer main construction in Illinois” in its latest edition andthe Illinois Department of Transportation “Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction” in its latest edition.Band Seal of similar flexible type couplings shall be used in connection of sewer pipe ofdissimilar materials.When connecting to an existing sewer main by means other than an existing Wye, Tee or an existing manhole, one of the following shall be used:

    1. Circular saw-cut of sewer main by proper tools (“Sewer tap” machine orsimilar) and proper installation of Hub-Wye saddle or Hub Tee saddle.

    2. Remove an entire section of pipe (breaking only the top of one bell) andreplace with a Wye or Tee branch section.

    3. With pipe cutter, neatly and accurately cut out desired length of pipe forinsertion of proper fitting, using “band seal” or similar couplings to hold it firmly in place.

    PAVEMENT REMOVAL
    Pavement removal shall consist of removal of all existing asphalt pavement, base course,sidewalk, all driveway aprons and chip and seal pavements necessary to construct the proposed improvements.

    Granular trench backfill, per Article 209 of the Illinois Department of Transportation StandardSpecifications for Road & Bridge Construction, shall be installed and compacted wherever a sewer or watermain cross existing or proposed pavement and shall extend 5’ beyond curb, pavement or sidewalk or where required by the Village Engineer. The backfill gradation shall be CA-6. At no time shall excavations within public right-of-way be left open over night.

    All existing pavement (curb, pavement, sidewalk, etc.) that is removed and/or damaged due to the proposed excavation shall be saw cut and replaced to match the existing material type and depth.The patching shall be completed within 45 days of the start of excavation within the public right-of-way.

    COMPACTION NOTE
    All cohesive structural fills should be placed in layers (8” maximum loose thickness) compactedto a minimum 95% of maximum dry density per ASTM D-1557 or equivalent. All granular structural fills should be placed at a minimum 85% of relative density per ASTM D-2049 or equivalent.

    At the end of each construction day all roads shall be cleaned of mud and opened for traffic. The contractor is responsible for all barricades and fence as necessary. Below contractor agrees toindemnify and defend the Village for costs, attorney fees, and damages in all actions arising from this work.

    The contractor shall notify all utility companies for field locations of their facilities prior toconstruction. The contractor shall be responsible for maintenance and preservation of thesefacilities. Call J.U.L.I.E. 800-892-0123.

    The Village of Crete (708-672-5431) and Tech 3 Consulting Group, Inc. (708-672-4994), shall benotified 2 working days prior to commencing of construction.

    The contractor shall construct a 4” temporary patch within 24 hours of completing the sewer orwater connection. The contractor shall be responsible for maintaining the patch until final binder& surface are installed.

    I have read and understand the requirements of the Village of Crete’s Right-of-way permit. I also understand that non-compliance of the above requirements will result in forfeiture of the bond.
