Commitment to Altar Serving
Altar Serving helps youth to grow in faith and build community with other servers. St. Stephen and St. Joseph Altar Servers are deeply engaged in the liturgies of the parish, assisting the priest in the celebration of the Mass. This is done by helping the priest and very attentively participating in the prayers and actions of the Mass, serving with reverence and respect. When are servers needed?—Altar servers are needed at all weekend Masses of the year, special Holy Days, and for other special events such as Holy Hours, funerals, etc. Servers must be 3rd Grade through college in age. Servers will be assigned to different Masses at their parish throughout the month, and are required to serve a minimum of 2 Masses per month. Altar Servers must arrive to the sacristy 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass to sign in.
