Availability & Interests
Please click on the days, tasks, and shifts you are currently most interested in. Choose as many as you are open to and available for. Many volunteers combine several volunteer tasks in one day, such as Feeding and Scooping, or Pet Pal and Med Team. In addition, some people volunteer for shifts with a friend - it makes the work twice as fast and twice as fun! Training will be provided.

Other ways to help at HART
Below are a variety of other ways to help at HART that are done as needed.
Check all that interest you.
FOSTERING (18 or older) - provide a temporary home to a cat or kitten in need.
MEDICAL TEAM VOLUNTEER - Occasionally we have sick cats and kittens who need medicine once or twice a day. The volunteer medical team would be trained to administer topical, oral, transdermal, or injectable medications for either morning or afternoon meds. This job is for adults only, but there may be the opportunity to help or observe for students wanting to learn about shelter medicine.
TRANSPORTING - Transport cats/kittens to or from veterinary appointments, usually in Cambria, but may also include other places in the county such as San Luis Obispo or Atascadero.
FERAL COLONIES - Sign up to feed & monitor one of our two local feral colonies. This is done once a day in the afternoon.
CLEAN TEAM - Help provide a clean environment in the morning before the shelter opens by helping do laundry, sweep & mop floors, and clean and bleach litter boxes, cat trees, toys, & carriers.
YARD MAINTENANCE - Help with weeding, mowing, planting, trimming & cleanup.
HANDYPERSON - Perform a variety of fix-it jobs around the shelter such as painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, etc.
TRAPPING - learn to trap lost cats in need of help in the community.
SOCIAL MEDIA - help put together content to help the cats and kittens get adopted.
