    Nominations for the Mentoring Prize 2026 must be submitted online (this form) by 15 February 2026, 5 PM CET.

  • 3.1. Letter of recommendation by the Proposer highlighting the mentoring activities of the nominee.  More specifically, the proposer is encouraged to address the following key areas:

    a)    Going the extra mile: Describe instances where your mentor went above and beyond in their role. If appropriate, you can provide concrete examples to illustrate their dedication and commitment.

    b)    Pastoral care: Discuss your mentor's ability to provide emotional and personal support to mentees. Highlight instances where they showed care and empathy.

    c)     Teaching/training: Evaluate your mentor's effectiveness in teaching and training. Share experiences that showcase their pedagogical skills and their impact on your development.

    d)    Supervision: Reflect on the quality of supervision provided by your mentor. Include examples of how they guided your work.

    e)    Support for career and professional development:  Explain how your mentor contributed to your career growth and professional development. Discuss any initiatives or opportunities they provided or facilitated.

    f)     Lessons learned: Share the valuable lessons and insights you have gained from your mentor's guidance. Describe the impact of their mentorship on your personal and professional growth.

  • 3.2. Questionnaire about the Nominee:

  • 3.3. Contact details of three additional mentees of the nominee who the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence can contact for recommendations. We recommend that these ideally consist of former mentees at different career stages. However, these can also include current mentees if the nominee is a junior principal investigator.

  • ! Please note that the three indicated mentees will be contacted by the FENS-Kavli Network of Excellence Office, and asked to submit a Letter of Recommendation for the candidate by 22 February 2026 at the latest (the letter has to uploaded by each mentee via a link the mentee will receive automatically from FKNE once you submit your nomination).
