Parade lineup will begin at 4:00pm and parade will start at approximately 5:30pm.

This year’s theme is Twas the Nightmare Before Christmas! We encourage you to celebrate your favorite holiday traditions! The parade will take place on Sat, December 9, 2023. Participants will be judged on use of lights, creativity, and adherence to the overall theme. All participants must sign the waiver and coordinator handed to volunteer before parade begins. Waiver & rules can be found on the next page, at Fruita Chamber office or at fruitachamber.org.
All entries/floats cost $10 to enter payable at the time of application submission to Fruita Chamber.

2023 Fruita Parade of Lights Rules

Please ensure your float and group are together before you line up to minimize confusion.
*Important*: Pre-judging will begin at 5:00 pm. In order to be in the running for a trophy, you must be lined up, lit up, and ready to go by 5:00pm. You may begin lining up at 4:00 pm.
**IF YOU HAVE HORSES: Remember that you MUST have bags on them and/or people following to clean up their mess. If you do not, you will not be allowed in the parade and no refunds will be given. This will be strictly enforced.

To ensure a successful parade, remember these Parade Rules:

-NO throwing candy, paper or any other items. If you want to give out candy, you must have walkers handing it out.

-Please NO other Santa. We have a Santa and don’t want to confuse the kids. This includes individuals dressed up in Santa suits or stuffed Santa’s.

-The parade will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. Traffic and parking always becomes more difficult to navigate closer to parade time. Volunteers will be in place by 4:00pm to assist you.

-If you are dropping off parade participants, please drop them off one block north Elm to help with the congestion during parade line up.

-Parents dropping off children to be in the parade should find the child’s group. DO NOT LEAVE CHILDREN WITH VOLUNTEERS AT THE INTERSECTIONS.

-Keep a distance of two car lengths between you and the group in front of you. Gaps lose people's interest and slow down other groups!

-Pre-Judging begins at 5:00 pm, the judges will be making their way down the line up and then will finish judging at the corner of Mesa and Aspen as the parade comes through downtown Fruita.

-Please help keep the parade moving at a steady pace. If you do stop for a performance, please keep it brief.

-NO EXPLOSIVES: This includes black powder weapons or weapons firing blanks.

-NO BURNOUTS: These are not permitted due to safety considerations.

-As you pass the Family Health West Assisted Living Centers, please remember to wave and participate. Remember that although there may not be a lot of people outside, there are people inside who are watching, and are just unable to come outside. They get a lot of joy from your smiles, lights, and floats!

As a participant I, the undersigned, fully recognize the risks of accident or injury inherent with the event and activities associated with the Parade of Lights. I accept such risks and will save and hold harmless the City of Fruita, the Area Chamber of Commerce/Fruita Parade of Lights Committee/volunteers, its sponsors, and officials for any bodily injury or property loss arising out of this event and related activities. I also have read and will abide by the rules (above and posted at fruitachamber.org).

FOR GOOD AND VALUABLE CONSIDERATION, including permission to participate in the 2023 Grand Valley Power Fruita Parade of Lights and related activities, I, for myself, my successors, heirs, assigns, executors, and administrators. Agree that prior to participating I will inspect the facilities, equipment and areas to be used, and, if I believe any of them unsafe, I will immediately advise the person supervising the event, activity, facility or area;Acknowledge that I fully understand that my participation may involve risk of serious injury or death, including conomic losses which may result not only from my own actions, inactions, or negligence, but also from the actions, inactions, or negligence of others, the condition of the facilities, equipment, or areas where the event or activity is being conducted, the rules of play, or this type of event or activity.Assume any and all risks of personal injuries to myself, including medical or hospital bills, permanent or partial disability, death, and damage to my property, caused by or arising from my participation in this event or activity. Covenant not to sue or present any claim for personal injury, property damage, or wrongful death against the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fruita, agents or employees, sponsors, and agents attributable to my participation in the event or activity;Release, waive, discharge and relinquish the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fruita officers, employees, and agents from any liability, loss, damage, claim, demand or cause of action against them arising from or attributable to my participation in the event or activity, whether same shall arise by their negligence or otherwise;Agree that photographs, pictures, slides, movies or videos of my may be taken in connection with my participation in this event or activity without compensation from the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce and consent to the use of these photographs, pictures, slides, movies, or videos for any legal purpose;Warrant that I am in good health and have no physical condition that would prevent me from participating in this event or activity; Acknowledge that the Fruita Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fruita are not joint sponsors, joint ventures, partners, or otherwise jointly engaged in the above named event or activity.THIS DOCUMENT RELIEVES THE FRUITA AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND THE CITY OF FRUITA AND OTHERS FROM LIABILITY FOR PERSONAL INJURY, WRONGFUL DEATH, AND PROPERTY DAMAGE CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE.
