I understand that Thurston Community College has taken all reasonable and legal steps which are practicable for the safety, health and wellbeing of all users.
In addition, I acknowledge that, having received no qualified instruction from Thurston Community College besides the video induction, I am using the fitness suite facility entirely at my own risk. I accept that Thurston Community College and their employees are not responsible for any injury or loss incurred by me arising from use of the fitness suite facility.
I accept that I will not attempt to use any item of equipment or undertake any exercise with which I am unfamiliar with or do not understand.
I also acknowledge the following terms and conditions:
- I understand that I must stay within the Sports Education Centre and that I am not permitted to enter any other area of the College site.
- I will not exercise beyond my own abilities. If I am concerned that I have a medical condition which might interfere with exercising safely, before I use Thurston Community College equipment and facilities I will get advice from a relevant medical professional and follow that advice.
- I agree to use the equipment provided only for its intended purpose
- All accidents and/or incidents (including potential hazards e.g. spillages) must be reported immediately to a staff member, who will be on site at all times during community use hours.
- Thurston Community College will not tolerate theft of equipment or use of illegal substances in or around the premises. Anyone found in possession of such substances will have their bookings revoked and may face prosecution.
- I will not use the sports facilities if unwell, under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, or whilst taking prescription medication which warns against the use of machinery.
Code of Conduct
I accept and agree to be bound by the following code of conduct:
- Appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn in the Fitness Suite
- We ask that all phone calls are taken outside of the Fitness Suite
- Filming and taking photographs is not permitted anywhere within the Sports Education Centre
- You must be 18 or over to use the Fitness Suite
- Please wipe equipment after use
- Please tidy all weights away after use
- Bags are not permitted in the Fitness Suite, please leave them in the lockers provided
We operate a zero-tolerance approach to abuse or intimidation of staff or fellow customers. Customers who do not respect this rule will be asked to leave, banned from the premises and face possible prosecution.
Use of Badminton Courts
Whilst using Thurston Community College Badminton courts, I understand that I must adhere to the following in order to ensure the health and safety of all users:
- I must wear suitable clothing and non-marking footwear
- I must maintain awareness of other people in the room and be respectful to other users
- I understand that there are a maximum of 6 people permitted per court (4 players, 2 spectators)
- I understand that any spectators must stand clear of the court
- I understand that I should remain hydrated
- I understand that I should use a leakproof water bottle
- I will report any health and safety concerns including slip/trip hazards which I find in the venue to a member of staff immediately
Data Protection
I understand that, where applicable, my data will be processed by Thurston Community College in line with our Data Protection Policy, which is available at www.thurstoncollege.org/policies and website privacy policy which is available at https://www.thurstoncollege.org/legal/.
From time to time, Thurston Community College may take photographs and videos within the Sports Education Centre to use for publicity and marketing purposes. Please inform the member of staff or appointed contractor who is taking the photographs or videos if you do not wish to be in the photographs or videos.

Booking Cancellations
Fitness Suite and court sessions may be cancelled by the customer up to one hour prior to their start time. A refund will be processed in this instance. If you cancel a session after this point, a refund will only be processed in exceptional circumstances, at the sole discretion of Thurston Community College. Please contact us as soon as possible should you need to cancel a session.
Please note that Thurston Community College reserves the right to close the facility and cancel bookings in exceptional circumstances. You will receive an email notification in this unlikely event. A refund will be processed should this happen.
