  • The Journal of Public and International Affairs (JPIA) seeks pieces that are outstanding in their research quality and include specific policy recommendations. Submissions should take the form of a longer policy paper, usually around 6,000 words and written in an academic journal style. All submissions should use Chicago Manual of Style citations. Please reference our FAQs for further details.

We encourage submissions from students of diverse and traditionally underrepresented backgrounds in policy scholarship, or that engage with issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. To ensure fairness and objectivity, we use a blind submission review process in which editors selecting articles for publication cannot see the author's name, school, or demographic information.

  • To avoid conflicts of interest, we are asking that people apply either to be a visiting editor or to submit a piece for this year's Reading Weekend review, but not both. The visiting editor decision date will be at least a couple weeks before articles are due, so visiting editor applicants will have time to submit an article if they are not selected as an editor or decide they would rather submit a piece than be an editor.
  • Applicant Information

As part of our focus on DEI, we are hoping to collect more information about our applicant pool. The following questions are optional, and JPIA will not consider your demographic information in its review of your application.
