HHCI is a comprehensive mental health resource for the Greater Houston community and beyond. At the Hope and Healing Center & Institute (HHCI) we are reimagining mental health care. Our mission is aimed at transforming lives and restoring hope to individuals and families.
HHCI offers a variety of uniquely structured strength and skills-based services to adults across the age spectrum, including those with serious mental health difficulties, and adults facing aging and caregiving issues.
Intern Tracks:
HHCI provides paid clinical placement for 2nd year graduate students seeking Master’s degrees in a mental health related field. We offer two placement tracks: Clinical and Geriatic. Interns are required to be onsite for 24 hours per week between the hours of 9am -6pm. Interns will participate in 2 hours of group case staffing weekly as well as scheduled 1 on 1 supervision.
Many of our services offer information and discussions about faith in the context of mental health care. Wherever a person is on their faith journey, we walk with them to help find and establish a faith community that suits their spiritual and emotional needs.
Clinical Track: These services are delivered as programs that range from 8-12 months and require weekly attendance. Our therapy programs are available to persons over the age of 18 who are experiencing symptoms of serious, chronic mental illness. Services are offered to the community at no charge. We do not offer family therapy, couples counseling, or counseling for higher-functioning individuals. This track is beneficial for aspiring LCSW/LPC candidates interested in providing evidence-based therapuetic services in a one on one and group setting.
Geriatric Track: These services are delivered for those who are aging, include support for their caregivers, healthy aging, resilience, grief support, and health care planning. Weekly tasks would include educational programs/trainings, group support, and one-on-one coaching. This internship works in conjunction with our CARES (Caregiving, Aging, Resilience, Ethics, and Spirituality) team. This slot is beneficial for aspiring LMSW or LCSW candidates interested in gerontology experience, engaging with aging issues through a variety of platforms: group education/training presentations; group support; and one-on-one coaching.
