Boss Hogg Foundation (BHF) established the Helen Marie Hogg Memorial Scholarship, in honor of the Founder’s aunt and first mentor, Helen M. Hogg who transitioned on July 12, 2021 after her battle with Lupus.

BHF established this scholarship to keep the legacy of Helen Marie Hogg alive and to encourage young female students to continue to pursue their education and serve their community. This renewable $1,000 scholarship is awarded to a selected outstanding South Oak Cliff High School 1st-gen female each year.

Application Instructions:
To apply for the Helen Marie Hogg Memorial Scholarship, please complete the application below and submit by April 5, 2024. Late applications and incomplete applications will NOT be accepted.

Scholarship Requirements:
- Must be a current female senior at South Oak Cliff High School
- Must have a minimum score of 1000 on the SAT or 22 on the ACT
- Must have an unweighted GPA of 2.75 or better
- Must be admitted to a college/university by May 2024 (Submit a letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment on official letterhead from an accredited college/university, trade school. (a clear copy of the letter is acceptable) Students must be registered for classes to receive the award.)
- Must provide unofficial high school transcript
- Must include essay, addressing the prompt listed on the application
- Must provide at least two (2) letters of recommendation from someone in your high school or community and one (1) letter of community service verifying that you have completed ten (10) community service hours. (Paid opportunities and/or sports do NOT count as community service.) These letters must speak about your academics or character. Letters of recommendation from relatives are not acceptable. 

Please submit a 500-1,000 word essay to the proposed question. The submission should be in the format of a PDF or Word Doc.
