    The following criteria are developed to support and guide clubs wishing to implement a Soccability program within their organization's range of programs. Soccability Canada is committed to promoting and supporting the development of adaptive soccer programs across Canada. Organizations applying to become a recognized Soccability Canada program must meet or exceed the standards outlined in the following pages.
  • Program Criteria: Coach Requirements

    All Lead Coaches will have completed and been evaluated on the Canada Soccer C License. Coach and support staff MUST comply with the following Safe Sport roster: Complete a Police Clearance check (valid for three years) Completed Making Ethical Decisions program Possess a current Respect in Sport Leader Certificate Coaching Standards Support coaches will be trained on stage-appropriate Canada Soccer Grassroots program: Active Start: u4-u6 players FUNdamentals: u7-u9 players Learning to Train: u10-u12 players Soccer for Life: u13 and above. The Lead Coach should agree to a mentorship agreement with Soccability Canada. This will help build a nationwide accessible soccer technical network. In addition, all coaching and support staff should agree to participate in ongoing in-service training opportunities.

    The organization must track detailed information about its participants beyond simple registration data. This data will ensure that the specific needs and well-being of the players are met. The program must develop an Emergency Action Plan for each facility and program they operate. The club must ensure that all players are registered and reported to Soccability Canada and their regional and provincial sports bodies. The Lead Coach must present a realistic and achievable development plan for the program. This should include working partnerships with other soccer clubs and sport providers within the realm of disability sports.
