Internships at Art Works

Located in the Manchester district of Richmond, Virginia, Art Works opened in 2003 and provides 80 studios for artists to make, display and sell artwork and four galleries for exhibits. The art center host monthly art shows featuring local and national artists. The art center is connected to the community and is involved in various programs throughout the year. Art Works generally offers administrative internships. An hourly stipend is paid.

Art Center Administration

Internships usually are an administrative role. The candidate will assist with opening and closing the art center on a specific schedule. We will work with your schedule as much as possible. The candidate will meet with visitors and provide information about the exhibits, studios, artists and artwork. The candidate will assist with hanging exhibits and wall displays, creating labels and catalogs, signage and slideshows. Responsibilities include clerical tasks such as: answering the phone, sorting mail, answering emails, receiving payments for rent and processing sales of artwork. Also the candidate will prepare brochure package handouts, mail marketing material to organizations and clients. The total hours usually are no more than 25 hours per week. You may be asked to work on a Saturday or Sunday but not every Saturday/Sunday.
