      Off Periods

Seniors who are on track and who have met TSI college readiness standards may take up to two off periods, and must be enrolled in at least six classes each semester. Requests for off campus periods will be accommodated based on the following parameters:
      • Off periods may be 1st, 5th, 4th, or 8th only.

      • The two off periods assigned will not be scheduled on the same day.

      • An off campus period in senior year is not guaranteed.

      • Student must have transportation. If students do not have transportation, they will be scheduled into a full schedule.

  • Alternative Courses

You need to provide AHS with three back up courses in the event that your first selected choice is not available. Please note that if you do not provide alternative choices then an alternative course will be selected for you based on course availability. List the alternative courses in the order of your preference.

  • Zero Hour Courses

This section only needs to be filled out if you are participating in a class that occurs outside the school day.

  • 4 Year Plans

All students are required to have a 4 year plan on file and it needs to be updated each year. The 4 year plan is used to help advise on current and future course selections. Students will complete the 4 year plan in the Frontline software of their student portal. Students will need to follow the 4 year plan instructions on the following link: https://andersoncounselingcenter.weebly.com/4-year-plan.html

Please note: The 4 year plan is not required to submit the choice sheet. However, this would be the perfect time to update the plan with any changes.

  • Endorsements

All students are required to declare at least one Endorsement for graduation.

At Anderson we strive to have all of our students graduate with the Multidiciplinary Endorsement. Please make sure that you select the Multidiciplinary Endorsement below.

  • Please read the information below and initial/sign where indicated.

    Schedule Changes

Fall schedule changes are only allowed for errors and prerequisite requirements. Elective choices made for the upcoming school year are final. To solve schedule conflicts, counselors may substitute the elective choice with an alternate. Due to overloaded class sizes, counselors cannot accommodate “change of mind” and “self- imposed over committed schedule” requests. Possible reasons for a schedule change: student already earned credit for the class in which they are enrolled, the student has not met a prerequisite for the course, ARD/504 committee decision, or student has failed a course under the same teacher and another teacher is available.

    Level Changes

Level changes occur when a student is academically misplaced. Teacher approval must occur for a level change. If a teacher recommends that a student move up from a regular level course to Honors or AP, and the receiving teacher also agrees that this would be in the student’s best interest, then this change may
occur at any time during the 1st or 2nd six weeks.

In order for a student to level down from an Honors, Pre-AP, or AP course then the teacher should fill out a level change form and submit it to the counseling office. To be eligible for a level down the following MUST occur:

    • student has attended tutorials multiple times,
    • student has great attendance,
    • student has given great effort on every assignment and therefore no zeros have occurred,
    • student/teacher/parent have communicated about student’s progress.
    • If the teacher has recommended a plan of action for the student to improve then the student must have attempted to implement that improvement plan,
the student is in danger of failing - no level changes should occur just because the student will have a lower grade average than student expected or wants.
    • the student must obtain the teacher’s signature in the course they are requesting to drop.

The level change will occur in the immediate days after the first six weeks concludes and teacher approval must still occur. For courses lasting only one semester, the same rules apply for both fall & spring semesters. Level changes may also occur at semester break for yearlong courses.

    Signatures

By electronically signing below, we commit that these are the courses we request to be scheduled in for 2024-2025. We understand that school resources will be allocated based on these choices and that students should make selections with care. AISD policy requires all schedule/mind changes to be submitted prior to May 23, 2024 after which no mind changes will be made.
