Estelle Gaymon Memorial Scholarship Application Form

$3000 Non-renewable Scholarship
The Educational and Charitable Foundation ("ECF") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which supports the Northern Virginia community, including Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Lambda Kappa Omega Chapter, by providing community services, educational programs, and philanthropic priorities.

Applicant must reside in one of the following areas of Northern Virginia: Fairfax County, City of Fairfax, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Arlington County, City of Alexandria, City of Manassas, Manassas Park, and the City of Falls Church.
- Applicant must be graduating in the class of 2026.
- Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- The applicant must demonstrate leadership ability in both the school and the community.
- Applicant must have participated in community service projects.
- Applicant must attend an accredited Historically Black College or University.
Application Deadline

All materials must be received on or before February 28, 2026

Completed applications shall include the following:
- Current official student transcript that includes the most recent grades
- Two Letters of Recommendation - One must be from a counselor or teacher.

- 250-500 Word Essay Response

The Estelle Gaymon Memorial Scholarship is meant to offset the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies or equipment for a graduating senior (U.S. citizens only) who will be a full-time college student beginning Fall 2026.

Awards will be disbursed directly to the college or university in August 2026. Funds may be applied to offset books and other academic supplies.

Award winners will be honored at our Annual Book Signing event, which will be held February 11, 2023 in Tysons, VA at the Capital One Hall. In order to avoid forfeiture of the award, winners or a representative must attend and be prepared to make a brief statement upon award acceptance.
