Veterinary School Scholarship
  • VETERINARY SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

    For students attending any accredited college of veterinary medicine in the U.S.
  • The Whiteside County Farm Bureau Foundation is awarding a scholarship to a veterinary student enrolled in their 2nd, 3rd or 4th years of the professional DVM curriculum at an accredited college of veterinary medicine, specializing in Large/Food Animals.

    The value of this scholarship is $5,000.

    To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:

    • Be entering their 2nd, 3rd or 4th year in veterinary school, specializing in Large/Food Animals, in the fall
    • Exhibit potential for successful completion of course of study.

    The selection for the scholarship is according to criteria such as:

    • Academic Achievement
    • Demonstrated success in educational career
    • Evidence that the student has developed a thorough plan and goal to complete their educational process successfully
    • Special consideration will be given to applicants intending to return to Northern Illinois to practice.

    Applicants consent to media release of photo and name upon announcement of scholarship recipients.

    There is no requirement to be a Farm Bureau member. Anyone can apply. Applicants that are members or the dependent of a member (parent/guardian) are eligible to recieve bonus points during the evaluation and scoring process.   • To be eligible for this Foundation scholarship, the application must include an official transcript for his or her university or college. The transcript must be from your most recently completed semester.

  • Please include a one-page personal statement which would include your goals, work ethic, and desire to become a food animal veterinarian.

    • Limit your statement to one page.
    • Type to be no smaller than 10 point font.
    • Lines are to be no more than double spaced.

  • Character Recommendation

  • List below two people whom you will request a Letter of Recommendation in support of your application. One letter must be from a professor. The second letter is from a person of your choice. Family members are excluded. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that Letters of Recommenation are received by the application deadline date.

    Letters may be emailed to Matt Lillpop, the Foundation Executive Director, at matt.wcfb@gmail.com or mailed to the Whiteside County Farm Bureau Foundation, 100 East Knox Street, Morrison, IL 61270. Letters of Recommendation must be no more than six months old at the time of application.

  • I certify that, to the best of my knowledge, the information contained in this application is true and correct. I also understand that I am a student in good academic standing. I also understand that the application will not be complete until the Letters of Recommendation are received no later than the deadline date. It is also my understanding that no materials will be returned. This statement will serve as notice that if the student withdraws or drops out of school, the monies from the Foundation will be payable back to the Foundation.

    I understand that, if awarded a scholarship, I may need to submit my Social Security Number.
