The Global Taskforce on Diversity in Security Studies is pleased to announce it will hold two Pay It Forward mentoring programs in late 2023/early 2024: one for early career women, and one for early career scholars of color. The taskforce, and these mentoring programs, are sponsored by the International Security Studies Section of the International Studies Association.
The Programs
The two mentoring programs will be held online, divided into multiple one-hour workshops on specific topics. Workshops will be led by experienced scholars with lived experience in security studies. Through this program, you will gain insider insights on dealing with challenges in the field, be able to pose your questions to senior academics, and meet other early career scholars to expand your networks.
Requirements
The only requirement for the program is that you commit to participating in all the workshops, if at all possible. (As we will have mentees and mentors from around the world, we will do our best to schedule them at a range of times to make them as accessible as possible.) We will also be conducting an evaluation of the Pay It Forward program, so if you are accepted, we will ask you to fill out a pre-workshop survey and post-workshop survey. This evaluation has received Monash University ethics approval, and its explanatory statement is available at the bottom of this application form.
Application Instructions
Please fill out the following form, noting which program you would like to apply for. If you identify as both an early career women and early career scholar of color, you are welcome to apply for both. Applications are due by November 25.
