Quality of Life Assessment

Determining if it is time to euthanize your beloved pet can be an incredibly challenging decision. Many times, this decision is made to alleviate unnecessary suffering in well-loved animals. The well-being of pets is determined by their overall physical and mental health, taking into account various aspects of their lives, not just one. The questionaire below aims to encompass all these factors in assessing your pet's life. It's crucial to bear in mind that each pet is unique, and what might be deemed a poor quality of life for one may differ for another.

2 - Disagree (very rarely)

My pet does not appear to be disoriented, lost, or anxious and does not appear to stare at walls or bump into furniture.
My pet does not need to be coaxed to eat with a variety of foods and treats or by hand-feeding or tube-feeding.

My pet is not showing signs of aggression or sensitives to being touched
My pet stays hydrated without fluid replacement therapy
My pet does not have seizures

My pet has not been diagnosed with a terminal condition

This quality-of-life scale has been adapted from Ohio State University's quality-of-life scale and from our own years of experience.
