OPT Agreement Letter
All OPT interns must sign our OPT Intern Agreement Letter to acknowledge their commitment to meeting the requiremens of the OPT internship. FOCUS OF YOUR INTERNSHIP
The Offer Letter will specify the focus of your internship. We will usually use your degree, e.g., Data Analytics, Computer Science, or Project Enginering. If te personn who interviewed you agreed to your letter showing a different term (typically something broader), please enter it here:
DATES AND TIMING
After you submit everything, we will send you your Offer Letter, so that you can submit your internship to the OPT portal.

The effective date of the Offer Letter will be either:
- the date you submit the last of the required materials, or
- a later date if you prefer, for instance if you need to wait for your EAD start date.
In any event, we will endeavor to send the Offer letter within two business days of the time we receive the last of your materials.

You are allowed ten days from the Effective date of the Offer Letter to file it with the portal, so this gives you plenty of time.

Confirmation of First Monthly Payment
Make your first monthly payment at https://changingthepresent.org/products/intern-contribution-to-changingthepresent. Please provide the Order #, which you saw on the thank you page and in the email receipt. That Order # should start with "#S"

Our HR interns request that you please put a reminder note in your online calendar to alert yourself to make the monthly payents on the monthly anniversary of your offer letter start date. That will save them from having to take time to remind you.

Volunteering Prior to EAD Effective Date
Most interns who apply before having received their EAD card join us as volunteers until they receive it.

Volunteering is perfectly allowable for F1 students at any time, including in advance of receiving their EAD card. For more info on this, including correspondence from the government, please see:

Volunteering lets you:
- make a difference in the world
- use existing skills
- learn new skills
- enhance your resume with a record of service and achievement (employers want people who are productive; not ones who sit around)
If you are willing to start volunteering prior to your EAD effective date, please indicate the start date for volunteeriing below. You do not need an Offer Letter for your volunteering, and you are not required to report your volunteering to either your school or the government. Again, see the link above.
