  • PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

  • The ACI Intermountain Chapter has established a scholarship program to foster the development of practicing engineers, architects and constructors in the field of concrete construction.

  • CRITERIA

    • Scholarship recipients must reside within the Intermountain Chapter boundaries which covers the States of Utah, Southern Idaho, Western Wyoming, and Southwestern Montana.
    • Students must have at least junior year status (at least 60 completed credits) or be seeking a graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture or Construction Management to be eligible for the scholarship award.
    • Applicants must be a qualified junior, senior or graduate student during the scholarship period.
    • Scholarship awards will be made during one academic year or the equivalent.
    • Applicants should demonstrate a career goal in becoming employed within the concrete construction industry.
    • Preference will be given to applicants who have shown an interest in the concrete construction industry through their education or work experience.
    • Students having full-time, part-time or co-op "hands-on" work experience in the concrete industry are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants should have engaged in project activity or employment related to the production, fabrication, estimating, detailing, supervision or inspection of concrete or in the gainful pursuit of experience directly involved in concrete construction.
    • Preference will be given to candidates who have not previously been awarded an Intermountain Chapter scholarship.
  • INSTRUCTIONS

  • Information submitted by applicants shall include:

    • A completed ACI Intermountain Scholarship Application Form
    • A cover letter of approximately 250 words describing applicant's career interests, personal objectives, statement expressing interest in concrete and other information that would give insight into the applicant's aptitude.
    • Brief written biography to be used at scholarship presentation. Please answer:
      • What is your past experience with concrete?
      • What is your emphasis of study in regards to concrete?
      • How do you see concrete influencing your career?
      • If you are selected to receive a scholarship, the brief biography must be submitted in video form prior to receiving the award.
    • Three letters of recommendation (if emailed, must be received from email address of individual making the recommendation)
    • A copy of official transcripts from all post-secondary colleges and universities attended

  • PAYMENT OF AWARD

  • Award payments, up to $2000, will be made directly to the student, at the April 11, 2024 Excellence in Concrete Awards dinner to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah.
