The SELLER affirms, to the best of their knowledge, that the kitten is in good health at the time of sale. This health status will be supported by a kitten exam by our state licensed veterinarian. The SELLER is not responsible for any health issues that arise after the kitten leaves the cattery, except as outlined in the terms of the contract.

The BUYER is responsible for the kitten’s health and well being from the moment it arrives at their home and for the entirety of its life. The BUYER agrees to provide proper care, nutrition, regular veterinary checkups, and a safe, low stress living environment for the kitten.

The BUYER acknowledges that the stress of transitioning to a new environment can sometimes trigger minor, temporary health issues in an otherwise healthy kitten. It is not uncommon for kittens to experience mild upper respiratory symptoms, loose stool, or a parasite flare-up shortly after going to a new home. These conditions are not indicative of a serious or pre-existing illness but are common responses to stress, travel, environmental changes, vaccine shedding, or exposure to other pets.Stress can also disrupt normal gut flora, occasionally leading to bacterial imbalance or toxin buildup, such as Clostridium perfringens overgrowth, which may cause diarrhea, vomiting, or reduced appetite. Similarly, stress can reactivate latent viruses such as Feline Herpesvirus (FHV-1), which may result in sneezing, eye discharge, or mild respiratory signs. The SELLER guarantees that the kitten is healthy and free from visible illness at the time of sale, as verified by a licensed veterinarian. Once the kitten has left the cattery, the SELLER is not responsible for any upper respiratory infections, viral or bacterial illnesses (including but not limited to Feline Calicivirus, Feline Herpesvirus, or Clostridium perfringens), bacterial toxin overgrowth, diarrhea, or parasite outbreaks that may occur post-transfer.The BUYER agrees to have the kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within seven (7) days of receipt and assumes full responsibility for the kitten’s ongoing health and well-being from the time of transfer.

The BUYER agrees to provide the kitten with a quiet, enclosed “safe space” for an initial adjustment period of no less than fourteen (14) days, and up to three (3) weeks if needed. This area should be a calm, low traffic space such as a small bedroom or bathroom equipped with food, water, a litter box, and comfortable bedding. During this period, the kitten must not be given free roam of the home or have direct contact with resident pets. This slow and controlled introduction process is essential for minimizing stress, allowing the kitten to acclimate safely, and protecting its developing immune system. Stress from sudden exposure to new environments, people, or other animals can lead to behavioral issues or trigger minor health flare ups such as upper respiratory symptoms, diarrhea, or bacterial overgrowth. The SELLER will not be held responsible for any illness, injury, or behavioral issues resulting from premature introductions, unsupervised interactions, or failure to follow these transition guidelines. The BUYER acknowledges that adherence to a proper acclimation period is part of responsible pet ownership and critical for the kitten’s long term well being.
*

While the SELLER does their best to properly socialize each kitten through regular handling, gentle exposure, and positive early experiences, the SELLER cannot guarantee the kitten’s temperament or behavior once it leaves the cattery. The BUYER acknowledges that a kitten’s personality and behavior may naturally change as it matures and adjusts to its new home, environment, and household dynamics. The SELLER is not responsible for any behavioral issues that may arise after the kitten’s transfer, including but not limited to shyness, fearfulness, aggression, litter box avoidance, or difficulties adapting to new surroundings or other pets. These are considered environmental and training-related factors that are the BUYER’s responsibility to manage with patience, care, and proper acclimation.

The BUYER agrees to activate the Trupanion 30-day free trial pet insurance on the day before or the day of pickup using the SELLER’S unique activation code. This coverage is free for the initial 30 days and takes effect immediately upon activation, providing essential protection during the critical transition period as the kitten adjusts to its new home. The BUYER must provide the SELLER with proof of activation, including the confirmation code, which will be added to the kitten’s permanent file. The BUYER further acknowledges the importance of maintaining active pet insurance coverage beyond the trial period to help ensure the kitten’s continued health, access to timely veterinary care, and financial protection in the event of illness or injury. While the BUYER may select any insurance provider, Trupanion is strongly recommended due to its immediate activation and comprehensive coverage. Should the BUYER need to file a claim with Trupanion or any other provider, the BUYER agrees to contact the SELLER first for guidance prior to submitting the claim. This step ensures proper documentation and support from the SELLER, helping to prevent claim denials or miscommunication.Failure to activate or maintain pet insurance coverage is the sole responsibility of the BUYER and may result in forfeiture of any applicable health guarantees or replacement considerations.

The SELLER covers the cost of the kitten’s spay or neuter procedure while the kitten remains in the SELLER’s care. If, at the time of placement, the kitten is determined by the SELLER’s veterinarian to be too young, small, or medically unsuitable for the procedure, the kitten will be placed unaltered. In such cases, the SELLER agrees to credit the BUYER $500 toward the total purchase price of the kitten. The BUYER is then responsible for having the kitten spayed or neutered by a licensed veterinarian once the kitten reaches an appropriate age and weight, as advised by their vet. The BUYER must provide written proof of sterilization (veterinary certificate or invoice) to the SELLER. The kitten’s registration papers and/or full pedigree will be released only after satisfactory proof of alteration has been received. Failure to provide proof of spay/neuter within the agreed timeframe will constitute a breach of contract and may result in withholding of registration papers.

The SELLER is not responsible for any veterinary expenses incurred by the BUYER once the kitten leaves the cattery, except under circumstances previously agreed upon by the SELLER. In the event that medical treatments, bloodwork, special testing, or procedures outside of standard preventative care are needed, the SELLER will only consider financial assistance if the kitten has an active pet health insurance policy in place prior to the onset of any symptoms or medical concerns. In such cases, the SELLER may choose to cover out of pocket expenses not reimbursed by the active insurance policy, at their sole discretion. Any support from the SELLER must be pre-approved in writing. The SELLER reserves the right to decline coverage for any expenses not expressly agreed upon.

The SELLER does not guarantee the kitten against upper respiratory infections, bacterial or viral illnesses, or parasitic conditions once the kitten has left the cattery. This includes, but is not limited to: Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), Feline Parvo (FPV), Feline Coronavirus (FCoV), FIP, Coccidiosis, Giardia, or other common infectious or parasitic concerns. The BUYER acknowledges that such conditions may develop as a result of rehoming stress, travel, exposure to other animals, environmental changes, vaccine shedding, or other immune challenges during the transition period. The SELLER is not responsible for any veterinary expenses related to the diagnosis, treatment, or outcome of these conditions once the kitten has been transferred to the BUYER. While the SELLER makes no guarantee of financial support, they may, at their sole discretion and on a case-by-case basis, choose to assist with treatment costs. Any such assistance must be pre-approved in writing and does not constitute a change to the terms of this agreement or create an ongoing obligation.

The BUYER agrees to never declaw the kitten at any point throughout its entire life. The BUYER understands that declawing is harmful and painful to the kitten and that it is not an acceptable practice.
*
Please Initial
The BUYER agrees to only administer one vaccine at a time, and vaccinations must not be combined with any other treatments, procedures, or surgeries on the same day. The BUYER understands that limiting and spacing vaccinations helps reduce stress on the kitten’s immune system and may decrease the risk of adverse reactions or complications, including but not limited to the potential triggering of a feline coronavirus (FCoV) mutation that could lead to FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).
*
Please Initial
The BUYER acknowledges and accepts the risks associated with vaccinating for FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus), and FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). These vaccines are not recommended by the SELLER due to their potential to cause adverse health effects and false positive test results, can complicate or hinder accurate future diagnostics and veterinary care. The SELLER is not liable for any health complications, adverse reactions, or diagnostic challenges that arise from the administration of these vaccines.

The SELLER is not responsible for any adverse reactions to vaccinations administered in the cattery or any future vaccinations given while in the BUYER's care. The BUYER acknowledges that the FVRCP vaccine (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia) is considered a core vaccine, essential for basic feline protection. However, the SELLER recommends the use of a killed (inactivated) vaccine formulation when available, as it is generally associated with fewer adverse reactions. The BUYER understands that vaccinations may cause side effects, which can include but are not limited to:Mild fever,Lethargy,Loss of appetite,Swelling or tenderness at the injection site,Sneezing or nasal discharge,Watery eyes,Mild digestive upset,Temporary limping (especially with the Calicivirus component)Flare-ups of latent viruses such as Feline Herpesvirus (FHV-1) or Calicivirus, especially in previously exposed or stressed kittens,Vaccine virus shedding, particularly with modified live vaccines, which can occur for up to 14 days post-vaccination, potentially exposing other cats to the vaccine strain. Severe vaccine reactions are rare but may include facial swelling, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, or collapse. The SELLER is not liable for any medical issues or complications resulting from vaccine reactions, including flare-ups of underlying viral conditions or exposure to vaccine-shed viruses.

The BUYER is responsible for monitoring the kitten for signs of FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) throughout its life. While once considered untreatable, FIP is no longer a death sentence, as FDA approved treatment options are now available. The BUYER acknowledges the critical importance of finding a veterinarian who is familiar with FIP, its evolving treatment protocols, and the diagnostic process. Partnering with an experienced vet can make a significant difference in the kitten’s outcome should FIP arise. A directory of FIP aware veterinarians can be found at: https://www.fipfriendlyvet.com.The BUYER agrees to watch for early signs of illness, which may include (but are not limited to):Lethargy, Diarrhea, Decreased appetite, Weight loss, Reduced activity, Persistent fever over 103°F, Abdominal bloating or fluid accumulation. The SELLER does not guarantee against FCoV (Feline Coronavirus) or FIP, as FCoV is commonly present in catteries and multi-cat households, and can be contracted at any stage in a cat’s life. Studies show that over 85% of cats carry FCoV, with no way to predict which will mutate into FIP, as this depends on the individual cat’s immune system and external stressors.
*

The SELLER does not guarantee against Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FIP develops from a mutation of the common Feline Coronavirus (FCoV), which is widespread in the feline population. This mutation may occur due to a combination of environmental stressors, immune response, vaccinations, or other factors outside the control of the SELLER. FIP is not considered a hereditary or preventable condition and cannot be eliminated through breeding practices or cattery management. In the event a licensed veterinarian diagnoses the kitten with FIP within the first twelve (12) months of life, the BUYER must notify the SELLER immediately and provide full veterinary documentation confirming the diagnosis. At the SELLER’S discretion, a partial financial contribution toward treatment may be offered, not to exceed $500, depending on the treatment plan and individual circumstances. This gesture does not imply or constitute a health guarantee against FIP, nor does it obligate the SELLER to provide additional financial assistance or coverage of ongoing medical costs.Should the kitten undergo FIP treatment but fail to recover, and subsequently pass away as confirmed by a licensed veterinarian, the SELLER may, as a courtesy and not an obligation, offer a replacement kitten of comparable quality and value, subject to availability. However, the BUYER must have made a good-faith effort to pursue appropriate and timely FIP treatment under veterinary supervision for replacement consideration to be reviewed. The BUYER acknowledges the inherent risks associated with FCoV and agrees to maintain a low-stress, clean, and healthy environment to support the kitten’s immune system and overall well-being. The SELLER shall not be held liable for the occurrence, progression, or outcome of FIP in any kitten once it has left the cattery.

This health guarantee applies only to these specific congenital conditions and begins on the date of sale. In the event of the kitten’s death due solely to one of the above listed congenital defects, the BUYER must provide the SELLER with a written statement from a licensed veterinarian confirming the diagnosis and cause of death. The SELLER reserves the right to request a necropsy report if deemed necessary. Upon verification, the SELLER may, at their sole discretion, offer a replacement kitten of comparable quality and value, subject to availability. No refunds will be issued. This guarantee does not cover conditions that do not result in death, conditions not explicitly listed, environmental or infectious diseases, vaccine reactions, stress related illness, or any condition arising after the kitten leaves the SELLER’s care. The selection and timing of any replacement kitten shall be solely at the SELLER’s discretion.
