NYJC’S GOLDEN RULES: We ask all young musicians to abide by the following code of behaviour. Failure to stick to these rules will result in your being asked to leave the project. (That said,we’ve only ever had to ask one person to leave in 15 years which is a record we’re thrilled with- Bravo NYJC!)

1 Respect all other participants and staff.
2 Respect the Benenden School environment and property.
Please keep the teaching rooms and community areas free of litter and mess.
(Check the state of the room before you leave it!)
3 No smoking or vaping.
Benenden School is a no smoking site. If you are found smoking or vaping you will be
asked to leave the session with immediate effect.
4 No alcohol.
If you are found in possession of alcohol you will be asked to leave the session
with immediate effect.
5 No recreational or illegal drugs.
If you are found in possession of recreational or illegal drugs you will be asked
to leave the session with immediate effect.
6 No sexual activity.
If you are found engaging in sexual activity you will be asked to leave the
session with immediate effect.
7 No Nuts.
Some of our participants have a severe nut allergy, so we ask you all not to bring
any nuts on site. If you are found in possession of nuts you will be asked to
leave the session with immediate effect.
8 Do not place anything on any of the venue’s pianos (other than the inevitable
music and pencils!)
9 Do not take food or drink (other than bottled water) into the teaching rooms or
performance spaces.
10 Attendance is compulsory for all timetabled activity.
If you are unable to attend because of illness, please inform the member of staff
on duty.
11 All mobile phones should be switched off during NYJC sessions.
12 Do not photograph, video or record other participants during the course.
13 Respect other people’s property.
Please do not play other people’s instruments. This includes drum kits as they
belong to your band members not the school and the pianos which are owned
by the school.
14 Do not leave Benenden School without permission.
15 Follow all Covid-19 Golden Rules as outlined by the venue.
