Under the NSW Football Legacy Plan - Women in Football Scholarships, coaches, volunteers and match officials will gain access to a suite of courses on a scholarship basis. As a result, this Match Official Development will have up to 10 scholarship positions available.
The Match Official Development Program will provide the opportunity for up to 10 female regional referees to travel to Newcastle and officiate on NNSWF National Premier League, Premier Youth League or Junior Development League matches up to 3 times from January-June, 2024. The objective of the program is to expose match officials to varying environments and create opportunities for new experiences on which they can reflect and develop.
Who is the program for?
This program is open to female match officials 16 years of age and older who have at least 12 months experience as a match official and are registered with NNSWF Referees, or to a NNSWF affiliated association in 2023.
This program is for females aspiring to progress as a match official, and must have the intention of continued engagement and development in this field.
The scholarship will provide up to $1,350 value per recipient, with travel and accomodation costs assessed on an individual basis.
Candidates will have the opportunity for up to 3 visits throughout the scholarship period of January-June, 2024.
Visits will have at least one day of officiating on matches, with fuel voucher and accommodation provided if overnight stay is required. This includes same room accommodation for a parent/guardian where the recipient is under 18 years of age.
