I will dedicate a month of my summer to learning, leading, and growing at Camp Caney. For four weeks of the summer I will work under the direction of the Camp Manager and Camp Director. Before camp, I'll attend counselor training. When camp begins, I'll get to experience weeks of leadership as I care for and nurture the discipleship of children and youth during Pre-Camp, Elementary Camp, Jr. High Camp, and Sr. High Camp. I'll be there to care for them physically, emotionally, and spiritually as they play together, learn together, and grow together.
I will serve as a model for good behavior. This includes exhibiting a positive attitude, friendliness to all campers, appropriate playfulness, inclusion of everyone, being a comforting presence, and exhibiting faithfulness.
I will be open to learning new ideas and new ways of doing things.
I will be ready for an exhausting but rewarding month of working with kids, youth, and adults.
I will be prepared for leading small bible studies, having conversations about God (no, you don’t have to have all the answers), and readiness to ask the Spiritual Director for assistance when needed.
I will fully participate in all activities including, but not limited to, worship, small groups, swimming at the lake, team building exercises, meals, cabin time, and free time.
I will stay on campus and remain present while preparing for camp, the whole time camp is occurring, and for clean up after camp. The only exceptions include running errands or in case of emergency WITH PERMISSION from a Camp Director or Camp Manager.
I understand that violation of the Code of Conduct may result in immediate termination from Camp Caney and loss of pay for the summer.
