Board Application

The Mentor North Board of Directors sees and recognizes the systematic oppressions that negatively impact people of color, women, people from working class backgrounds, LGBTQ, and people with varying abilities. Because we believe that these communities must be centered in the work that we do, we strongly encourage people from these or who are members of other marginalized communities to apply. We engage in anti-oppressive practices that work towards eliminating prejudice, racism, and discrimination of marginalized groups. Our goal is to create a vibrant and inclusive mentorship community.

The vision of the Mentor North Board of Directors is to have 1/3 constituents (families/mentors), 1/3 business representation, and 1/3 stakeholders (youth serving agencies, educators, etc.) We are looking for individuals with a broad spectrum of talents, including (but not limited to) program management, youth development, marketing, fundraising, legal guidance, event planning and understanding of the needs and realities of the youth and families we serve. Board members are not required to have a formal background in these areas; we are seeking a diverse group of individuals who can make active contributions to the Board.

Board terms are three years, and Board members require 4-8 hours per month (including the monthly meeting), depending on current Board projects. We ask that each Board member participate actively in the full Board and then one Board subcommittee.
