Purpose
The purpose of this scholarship is to support alumni with financial need after they have enrolled in college. The financial need may include the following:
- To pay off old debt required to re-enroll in college, transfer, or register for classes
- Cost of attendance including tuition, room and board, and related fees
- Purchase of textbooks, specialized equipment, or class materials if purchased from an accredited college or university
The scholarship can not be used to pay off debt to a private or government lender, or to pay costs not paid directly to a college or university.
Criteria
- If currently enrolled in school, a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (does not apply to students who are in their first semester of college)
- Demonstrated Financial Need - Completed FAFSA application and/or Academic Hold Bill
- Demonstrated commitment to college graduation
- Personal Interview with Senior Director of College and Career Readiness (can be in person or over the phone)
- Meet with Alumni Coordinator to complete a financial session and schedule follow up check-ins as deemed necessary by the Alumni Coordinator
- Commit to accountability measures that may include regular reporting of grades, check-ins with Alumni Coordinator, tutoring, etc.
Award Process
The applicant will be notified via email about the scholarship award decision. If a scholarship is being awarded, the criteria or accountability measures will be described in the award letter. If awarded, a scholarship check will be sent to the college or university with dollars directed to the recipient’s account.
