Karen was 59 years of age when she moved into the former Sharon Home on Magnus Avenue. She was blessed with great care and a loving community for 18 years, the longest of any Resident at the Saul & Claribel Simkin Centre. Karen is lovingly remembered for her smile that communicated joy for life and being in others' company. While Karen lived with the effects of Recessive Cerebellar Ataxia, the challenges it created never defined her. The Weinberg 1 unit became her home where she embraced the company of all who knew her, and she was proud to continue living a Jewish Life. Some have noted that she was the "Norm" (Cheers) of the Simkin Centre, her presence received with warmth and unfailing welcome.
