    HIGH PERFORMANCE HOME TOUR 
    Showcasing green certified homes throughout the Triangle area.

    April 27-28, 2024

    2024 TOUR DETAILS

    • The Tour will be one weekend only.
    • To be eligible for the High Performance Home Tour, the home has
      to be green certified with one of the following programs:
      NGBS • EcoSelect • Energy Star • LEED • Passive House
      DOE Zero Energy Ready Home • Duke Energy HERO Program • Environments for Living • HERS (Home Energy Rating Score)
    • In an effort to be eco-friendly, the High Performance Home Tour magazine will be digital only.
    • A new and improved website is in production and each entry will have a dedicated page about the home. Website analytics will be provided to builders at the end of the event. 
    • The marketing campaign will focus on a strong online presence including advertising on google, facebook, instagram and geofencing.
  • ero ready homes); If solar is not installed then a solar quote must be provided as part of the marketing materials demonstrating a home is "net-zero ready";
    o Other 3rd Party verified program that demonstrates the builder’s commitment to building a healthy-built, energy-efficient home.

    We have expanded the program!

    Getting a home green certified is easier than you think and typically costs less than 1% of the cost of the home.

    Projects must demonstrate 3rd Party verified compliance with a high-performance home program, including but not limited to:


    o Energy Star for Homes
    o NGBS (National Green Building Standard)
    o LEED for Homes
    o ecoSelect
    o DOE Zero Energy Ready Home
    o Environments for Living
    o Passive House
    o Duke HERO Program
    o HERS (Home Energy Rating Score) w Solar designed to offset a minimum of 80% of total electricity use (net-zero and net z

    DUE FEBRUARY 9, 2024:
    Floorplan You can attach your floorplan with this online entry form OR email julie@hbadoc.com a pdf of the floorplan that will be professionally re-drawn for the tour guide. Please circle any options and indicate any changes (flipped plan, upgraded master bath, etc.) when the floorplan is submitted. 
     
    House Features List. You can include this here, on the online entry form, OR email julie@hbadoc.com. Supply 10 concise bullet points that describe the green features or benefits of your entry via this entry form. If possible, indicate details about the benefit of each entry. If you submit separate from this entry form, please send as a Word document (not a pdf).

    Directions to the home. You can include with this online entry form OR email julie@hbadoc.com. Please include written directions from a major road, including details from the front entrance if this home is located within a subdivision.

    Copyright Authorization Form. This form will be emailed to you upon receipt of your entry.

    DUE MARCH 15, 2024
    High resolution exterior photo (1 MB). If  the home is not at a reasonable stage of completion by deadline, the builder must submit a professionally drawn front elevation of the entry. The HBA can recommend artists if needed. THIS IS A FIRM DEADLINE! If a high res photo or professional rendering is not received by the deadline, we will insert the Green Home Tour Logo on your house page. We appreciate your cooperation.

    Certificate of Insurance. Each builder on the tour is required to provide a copy of your liability insurance showing that it is current for the event dates (April 27-28, 2024) AND listing the HBADOC as additional insured. Your insurance company can provide this documentation via email to julie@hbadoc.com. The HBADOC Address is 1821 Hillandale Road, Suite 1B-138, Durham, NC  27705.
     
    ENTRY FORM
    This form MUST be completed in full. Each house or remodel project must have a separate entry form. Each house/remodel project must be either certified through, or enrolled in, an approved certification program. Builder agrees to furnish proof of certification, when achieved. Failure by the builder to complete the certification process identified with the entry will make the builder ineligible to enter any other High Performance Home Tour marketing events during the following 12 months.

    NOTE: You cannot start and stop the entry process. Please begin the entry form when you have all your information available. Avoid hitting the back button as your information may not be saved.

  • Please note: Homes must be open all days and all hours of the Tour. During tour hours (April 27-28, Noon - 5 pm), the entry must be staffed with a knowledgeable person/ people who can explain the green features of the house. It is recommended that you ask vendors and subcontractors who have installed the various features to provide representatives to help explain their particular aspects of the home.

  • Important! You must have enrolled the home in or have received certification from an approved certification program by 2/16/24. Failure to meet this deadline will result in withdrawal of the entry and $500 administrative fee.  
     
    Once this form is submitted, you will receive an invoice for the entry fee. You can pay via check or credit card (via our online portal). Entry fees must be received by 4/1/2024.

  • PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

    COMMITMENT. This is my commitment and entry fee for a home in the 2024 High Performance Home Tour presented by the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties (HBADOC) and the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County (HBARWC). I understand that our company must be a current member of the HBADOC or HBARWC in order to enter this home on the tour and that my entry must be enrolled in one of the approved certification programs. I will furnish all required materials by the established deadlines. I will ensure that the home is staffed during tour hours (April 27-28, 2024, Noon - 5 pm) by a knowledgeable person who can explain the green features of the home.  


    ENTRY AFFIRMATION. The HBAs (HBADOC and HBARWC) and I agree to indemnify and hold each other harmless from and against all claims, losses, costs, damages, expenses and liabilities for bodily injury, death, or property damage arising out of or in connection with any and all occurrences on or about the home, caused in whole or in part by the other. I agree to furnish a Certificate of Insurance documenting their General Liability insurance coverage of our business and Tour entry. The insurance certificate should list the HBA as an additional insured during Tour dates. (I will request this from our insurance carrier). 

    BUILDER AGREEMENT. This entry is the result of an original design and I have obtained the legal right to use the design from the copyright owner and to the design as represented in the structure, plans, specifications and drawings for the house. I further represent that I have not pledged, assigned, or encumbered the rights to the design andthat such design does not violate any copyright, property, or common law rights of others. I hereby indemnify and hold harmless HBADOC and HBARWC from any and all claims of third parties, including, but not limited to, copyright infringement or conversion, which may be asserted as a result of the inclusion of the house in the Tour or the inclusion of the drawings or floor plans of the house in any publication, including on the Tour page, of the HBA publicizing or in conjunction with the 2024 High Performance Home Tour. If an Act of God prevents the scheduled events from being observed, I agree that the High Performance Home Tour committee shall have the authority to re-schedule the Tour dates at its sole discretion. I agree to help market the High Performance Home Tour on all social media outlets I use leading up to and during the event. I agree to submit all supplemental items by the deadlines indicated at the top of this entry form.
