Oak Hills Community League is looking for volunteers for our casino fundraiser!

When you volunteer for the casino fundraiser, you help us raise about $80,000 over the course of this event! This is a major boost to our community and the programming, events and projects we coordinate. Thanks to our volunteers for helping us achieve our mission!

The event runs over 2 days, between Feb 8th and 9th, 2024 @ Grand Villa Casino 10204 104 Ave (attached to Roger's Place). Parking, a meal, and snacks are included for volunteers!

Casino Volunteer Positions

• GENERAL MANAGER - Supervises all aspects of the casino; Ensures compliance with guidelines; Works closely with the casino advisor
• BANKER - Supervises the cash cage; Documents cash cage transactions; Is responsible for cashiers and chip runners; Computer experience an asset
• CASHIER - Interacts with casino players for payouts of chips; Maintains security of cash and chips; experience handling money is an asset
• CHIP RUNNER - Opens and closes game tables with facility personnel; Delivers chips to tables; Assists general manager with other duties as needed 
• COUNT ROOM SUPERVISOR - Ensures the count room is secure; Verifies information recorded by count room staff; Prepares float and bank deposits 
• COUNT ROOM STAFF - Sorts cash and chips brought from gaming tables; Accurately counts and records totals

FAQs

• I've never volunteered at a casino event before, how will I know what to do or expect? Training will be provided on site at the casino. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary. The instructions provided will be clear and easy to follow. There will be a casino advisor on site who will answer any questions that arise and help handle any issues. Casino volunteers often come back year after year as it is actually a really fun time, and you will be well taken care of and fed!
  
• Will I receive breaks? Yes, you will be rotated out for breaks as needed over the course of the volunteer shift. The on-site casino advisor will help with this process. 
• Will there be food? Most important question! Yes, each volunteer will have access to free snacks and drinks during their shift, as well as 1 free meal at one of the casino restaurants during their shift. A great way to sample the casino fare! Alcohol cannot be consume during the volutneer shift.
• What should I wear while volunteering? Business casual atire is required by the casino for its staff and volunteers. 
• Can I gamble or use the VLTs/video gaming terminals? No, all volutneers are prohibited from playing games/gambling at the casino location during the duration of the casion event. 
• What about parking & getting there? There is free parking on site, and details will be sent out closer to the casino date. If for some reason the free parking is closed, we will reimburse parking or travel up to $20 per volunteer. We want to ensure it is a smooth experience for you!
• How about my safety & security during or after my shift? Casino security staff are very supportive of volunteers on site. They are usually available to walk you to your vehicle or to address any conerns you have during or after your shift. Let the on-site casino advisor know about your needs, or inquire with security directly.
