Apply to participate in Winter Institute 2024!
Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art is thrilled to announce this open call for our first Winter Institute session. An intensive distillation of our longstanding Summer Institute program, this session will be led by artist Judy Radul in conjunction with their solo exhibition Live Lecture Streaming Podium: I am Not a Cat, through which the live lectures will be presented to the Winter Institute cohort.
The 2024 Winter Institute will run February 19 to February 25, 2024. Each day of the session will be explored by a new guest faculty member through unique morning lectures, followed by afternoon workshops and debrief conversations.
The week-long program will culminate in a day-long open critique, in which both Winter Institute participants and members of the community are free to drop in. Those who attend the critique are welcome to bring their own work or research for feedback or to simply participate in the discussion! Work presented can be in-progress.
The Winter Institute is a free, international artist research program for professional artists and cultural workers in all disciplines. Plug In ICA invites artists that are critically leading conversations in their field to lead a Winter Institute session, and are seeking interested partipants to apply. The Winter Institute invites participants to expand upon their own interests and projects and includes opportunities to work in a collaborative peer-to-peer environment through group activities, guest lectures, and workshops.
The Winter Institute is a FREE program to apply and participate in. Applicants from outside of Winnipeg (Treaty 1), MB will need to arrange their own travel, accommodation, and subsistence. Successful applicants can use their letter of acceptance for travel grants. Applications are due January 15, 2024.
There are very limited slots available for this program. Only successful applications will be contacted.
