APPLYING FOR YOUR GUARANTEE
I have many buildings/areas included within the same project, do I need to apply for a separate product guarantee for each of them?
This will depend on the contract requirements and whether there is a common building owner. Where a single contract covers multiple buildings/ roof areas owned by the same person or company, you can schedule each of the buildings/ roof areas within a single product guarantee application under the 'PROJECT AREA BREAKDOWN', including their respective sizes in m2.
Where multiple contracts are in place or multiple owners will exist (e.g. home owners on large housing developments), these should be completed separately. For very large developments, please liaise with your Area Sales Manager for DANOSA UK, who may be able to suggest a solution to reduce your workload.
The principal waterproofing solutions I have installed on my project have different guarantee lengths. Do I need to apply for separate product guarantees for each waterproofing membrane solution?
Yes. The application request form will restrict your product guarantee length to the waterproofing solution with the lowest product guarantee period. However, if you want the same product guarantee length for all waterproofing solutions, you can put these in to one application. Please consider that the application request form will automatically restrict the product guarantee length to the principal waterproofing solution with the shortest cover.
I need to apply for a product guarantee on a project that was completed a long time ago. Can I apply for it now?
Yes, as long as the materials were purchased from DANOSA UK Limited and the materials are currently listed in the application form, you can apply for a backdated product guarantee as required. However, where the roof completion date is over 6-months prior, to meet the requirements of our Spain insurer, we will ask you to provide photographic evidence that the roof is still in good condition. The photographs should be date stamped or there should be evidence of the date in the photograph(s).
BUILDING OWNERS
Can I nominate two building owners on the same guarantee?
Unfortunately, not. It is not possible to add more than one building owner to a single product guarantee application. This is because the product guarantee becomes a form of contract, setting up obligations for the manufacturer, the contractor and the building owner to follow. For this reason each party must be clearly defined so that their responsibilities can be correctly attributed. However, if your project has multiple areas/buildings, each of which has different owners, you could apply for a separate guarantee for each area.
Can the building owner be changed once the guarantee has been issued? For example, when a property is sold to another owner.
Yes. Requests to amend the product guarantee, including the transfer of title, can be made in writing to ukwarranties@danosa.com. However, eligible revisions are subject to an administration charge on a proforma basis at the current rate at that time, which can be quoted on request.
INSURANCES
Is the product guarantee insurance backed?
Yes, but please allow us to clarify. The promises made by DANOSA UK within the terms and conditions are backed by a company held insurance policy. This provides comfort to the building owner that the guarantee will be upheld in the event of DANOSA UK ceasing to trade. However, this should not be confused with an insurance backed guarantee (an IBG). An IBG is a project specific insurance policy that backs a written guarantee to provide comfort to the building owner that in the event of the installer’s insolvency, there is an insurance policy in place to assist with any issues. If you need an insurance backed guarantee, please contact ukwarranties@danosa.com who can direct you towards a financial services provider.
Is the product guarantee an IBG (insurance backed guarantee)?
No. DANOSA UK product guarantees are not insurance backed guarantees (IBG). An IBG is an insurance policy that backs a written guarantee to provide comfort to the building owner that in the event of the installer’s insolvency, there is an insurance policy in place to assist with any issues. If you need an insurance backed guarantee, please contact ukwarranties@danosa.com who can direct you towards a financial services provider.
WORKMANSHIP
Does the product guarantee cover the installer’s workmanship?
No. The installer’s workmanship is a service that the installer provides to your client and it is the installer’s responsibility to ensure that any installed systems have been installed correctly.
The risk of water ingress due to workmanship issues can be reduced by ensuring that the installer follows all the latest published guidance or by undertaking training. The installer has the option of using our free workmanship guarantee template should they wish to offer a guarantee on their workmanship to the end client.
CHANGES TO THE GUARANTEE OFFER
Have the terms and conditions of the DANOSA UK product guarantee changed?
Yes. The terms and conditions for new product guarantee applications were amended as of 01 January 2023. The terms and conditions of guarantees prior to that date, remain unaffected.
