  • Program Overview

    Inspired by the principles of Ujamaa, which is a Swahili word meaning "familyhood" or "community", the Ujamaa Youth Corps (UYC) aims to empower youth by providing them with job training opportunities as well as fostering a sense of community and self-empowerment.  Opportunities are available in the following areas: Immigration Legal, New Arrival Resettlement, Accounting/Finance, Program Evaluation & Impact, Communications, Technology.
  • Eligibility to apply:

    Applicant must be: 

    • Recent graduate who has completed, within the previous two years, a degree or certificate from a higher educational institution. 
    • Committed and willing to perform assigned work project 
  • Duration

    The UYC will hire and train participants for one (1) year.

  • Benefits

    The UYC affords successful participants opportunities for skill development, mentorship, civic engagement, policy research and advocacy, case management, and career advancement. 

    • An annual salary/stipend will be provided for the program. 
    • Participants may be converted to a permanent position upon completion of the program. To be eligible for conversion, participants must have: 
      • Successfully completed and met all program requirements. 
      • Demonstrated successful job performance. 
      • Met the qualifications for the position to which the participant will be converted.
