Dear San Francisco Supervisors
I am a San Francisco resident deeply concerned by Supervisor Dean Preston’s proposed resolution about the Israel-Hamas War.
As antisemitism continue to escalate in the Bay Area, the introduction of this resolution at the December 5 Board of Supervisors meeting will only further inflame tensions between already traumatized residents of the City and create a forum for hate.
As the whole country witnessed in Oakland and Richmond, the consideration of one-sided resolutions about the Israel-Hamas War result in hours of public comment plagued by inflammatory lies about Israeli genocide, antisemitic rhetoric, denial of Hamas atrocities, support or justification of terrorism and hateful conspiracy theories.
When our beloved City is besieged by so many challenges, I urge you to concentrate on dealing with San Francisco's many problems and let US Congress and US Government deal with international politics.
If the Board of Supervisors truly wants to support peace between Israelis and Palestinians, it must condemn Hamas (US-designated terror group), condemn the October 7 massacre, call for the immediate release of all hostages in Gaza, acknowledge that Hamas is an impediment to any sustained ceasefire, call on to Jordan, Egypt and other neighboring countries to accept Palestinian refugees and support US Government policies that will facilitate the peace accords between Israel and other countries in the Middle East.
I’m asking you to say no to spreading hate, support of terrorism, inflamatory lies and no to one-sided resolutions.
