Participation in Johnston Public Library's Read Local Book Fair is by application only. It may be necessary to limit participation by selecting a representative sample of types of work. Johnston Public Library staff reserve the right to accept or decline any application.
Priority will be given to authors from Polk County. Additional criteria such as publication quality, local interest, and artistic merit will also be considered. Authors must be edited and published. When considering applications, preference will be given to writers who are not self‐published.
Authors must attend the event and be responsible for their own exhibits.
Authors must be legally able to sell books at the event.
Authors will be responsible for supplying their books for sale and for collecting payment. Johnston Public Library is not able to provide change, cash boxes, credit card readers, or any other assistance or equipment for making sales.
Books must be available in print. E‐book authors who do not have a printed copy of their book are not eligible.
Johnston Public Library will provide tables and chairs. Authors may share a 6’ table. Any display materials should fit into the confines of the table space provided each author. The library does not have the ability to accommodate banners, posters, or other wall/ceiling hangings.
Participants must provide the library with a headshot and image of the cover of your book(s) within one week of notification. You agree to allow Johnston Public Library to use these images as free promotional.
