A Rider’s Agent Licence is issued to a person who, by contract or other arrangement or agreement, assists a Jockey or the employer of an Apprentice Jockey in the organisation of their riding engagements. Please refer to the NZTR Licensing Policy for full details. Upon submission, your application will be reviewed within 10 working days.

NZTR Consent*

By signing and submitting this application form to NZTR:

1. I acknowledge that I have read the application form and undertake and certify that all of the information that I have provided to NZTR in, or with, it is true and correct in every particular.

2. I acknowledge and understand that NZTR may take disciplinary action against me in the event that the information I have provided in, or with, this application form is false or misleading in any particular, which action may include the revocation of any Licence issued to me.

3. I acknowledge that the provision of any false, misleading or inaccurate information in, or with, this application form may also result in me being charged under the Rules of Racing.

4. I undertake and confirm that I meet all the requirements for the issue of a Rider’s Agent Licence under the Rules of Racing.

5. I acknowledge that:

(a) I can only act as agent for a rider with the written approval of NZTR and, in the case of an Apprentice Rider, with the written approval of the Apprentice Jockey’s employer; and

(b) NZTR may withdraw its approval for me to act as the agent for a particular Rider at any time in its discretion.

6. I undertake not to make any public statement or comment concerning any matter currently the subject of investigation or inquiry before the Stewards of NZTR, NZTR or the RIB.

7. I undertake that I will:

(a) provide to NZTR, on request, full details of all contracts or agreements with Riders or their employers in the case of Apprentice Riders; and

(b) notify NZTR as soon as practical if a contract or agreement with a Rider, or their employer in the case of an Apprentice Rider, is terminated for any reason.

8. I acknowledge that, in the case of a contract or agreement in relation to an Apprentice Rider, the employer of the Apprentice Rider is to be responsible for paying the fees payable to me under the contract or agreement out of their percentage of the Apprentice Rider’s earnings unless both the employer and the Apprentice Jockey have advised me in writing of any other payment arrangements that are to apply.

9. I acknowledge that, as the holder of a Rider’s Agent Licence issued by NZTR, I will be bound by, and must comply with, all applicable NZTR Rules of Racing and policies, regulations and directives issued under them, and that I must keep myself updated of all changes to the Rules of Racing and policies, regulations and directives that apply to the holders of Rider’s Agent Licences.

Applications are reviewed by Racing Integrity Board Stewards and then considered by the NZTR Licensing Panel which, based on the information supplied, may:
- request additional information or clarification from the applicant regarding the application;
- defer an application until further information is supplied;
- refer an application to the NZTR Racing & Integrity Committee;
- approve the application (including, where considered appropriate, on conditions);
or
- decline the application.
Notification
You will be notified of the outcome of your application by the NZTR Licensing Panel by email. If your application is approved, NZTR will send you a notification outlining the terms and conditions of your licence.

What if my application is declined?

You can appeal to the NZTR Racing & Integrity Committee within 28 days of when you were notified that your application has been declined.
