These classes are LASER Speed Enforcement Operator's Courses (also known as LIDAR). They are a one-day course involving both classroom and hands-on practical exercises outside.
LaserTech (LTI) offers these classes at no cost to officers to attend the class.
These courses are geared for the Laser Technology Inc (LTI) 20-20 products such as the UltraLyte, TruSpeed®, TruSpeed® S, and TruSpeed® SXb series of laser units and follows the New Jersey case law regulating Laser Speed Enforcement. Each student receives a workbook as part of the class.
We offer additional optional training for agencies that have the TruCam, TruVision, or UltraLyte with Distance Between Cars (DBC).
After 80 hours of unsupervised operation of your lidar device and submission of documentation, an operator's certificate will be issued.
The prerequisite for the Basic Lidar Operator's Course is that you are, or have been, a certified RADAR operator.
Please bring your LASER/LIDAR device to the class for use in the practical exercises. The class does not take a lunch break.
Use one registration form per officer.
Please bring your lidar unit with you to the class.
You must indicate the type of lidar unit you wish to be trained in at the end of this form.
