About the survey

This survey is designed to better understand what prevents potential or past contributors to the AncientMetagenomeDir project from further contributing.

The survey is entirely anonymous, and cannot be linked back to the submitter. It is anonymous to allow you to be as open as possible.

The results will be used to try and improve the contributor experience by addressing the most common issues brought up from the survey to help the longevity of the project.

Lack of time

Takes too long to do a submission

I have to concentrate on my PhD/own projects so I can't spend time on community projects

Supervisor pressure to work on my own projects (no support for community projects)

I can only justify to my supervisor when in an event, not every now and then throughout the year

I don't feel there is any more possibility for e.g. publication co-authorship to make it worth my while

Lack of confidence (don't feel knowledgable enough to find or review the data in publications)

I want to contribute, but I don't know where to start

I want to contribute, but I don't have time to learn GitHub

Github is too complicated

I don't use AncientMetagenomeDir so I don't see why I should contribute

The data isn't useful to me

The value of the project to me isn't worth the effort
