  • The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences (UAPB SAFHS) is a co-recipient of a USDA NextGen Grant (Project Award Number 2023-70440-40153) to provide scholarships to students who demonstrate a financial need to enroll in college. The SAPLINGs scholarship, in the amount of $10,000 ($5000/semester) for tuition and fees, is awarded to undergraduate students with a 2.5 - 3.0 GPA majoring in agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries or human sciences. It is designed to assist students who may not qualify otherwise for academic scholarships and is ONLY open to first-time incoming and transfer students, or sophomore & junior-level students with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

  • Read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application.  Do not attempt to complete this application on your phone.  Use a desktop or laptop computer. Answer each question honestly.  When submitting your essay, check for grammar, spelling, and punctuation.  This scholarship is for undergraduate students majoring in agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries, or human sciences ONLY. It is open to incoming new students or transfer, sophomore & junior-level students with a minimum 2.5 GPA. It is renewable each academic year provided students maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA each semester, participate in the peer-to-peer mentoring program, register for MANRRS, and meet all other eligibility requirements.  If your GPA falls below a 2.5 at any given time, you will have ONE semester to improve your GPA.  If you are unable to do so, your scholarship will be canceled.  

  • Once you complete your application and submit it, send a copy of your unofficial transcript and current bill showing your most recent balance to Dr. Nina Lyon Bennett at bennettn@uapb.edu.  This documentation is needed to support the data you provide. Likewise, all correspondence and award agreements will be generated from the personal information submitted below. So, please use proper spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.  Your application and supporting documents are due by COB (5 pm EST) Friday, August 1, 2025.  NO LATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED.  Students will be notified by August 15th.
