General Information
Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District Public Art Across America Grant
Intent to submit for this project by January 1, 2024 (this form)
Final design by January 16, 2024 (via email to arts@crisfieldcityhall.com)
The Crisfield Arts & Entertainment District is applying for a Public Art Across Maryland Grant through MSAC for local artists to show the heritage of Crisfield by creating painted flower planters that depict oyster containers in the A&E District!
Historically, there were many companies packing oysters, caught off the shore of Crisfield, into tins and shipped around the world! We want to pay homage to our Crisfield oyster culture, which is still very much alive today, by having paintings on flower planters of historical looking oyster cans on display throughout the A & E district.
Details for Consideration:
- All designs need to be new and original art, created by the individual artist
- Designs should have a Crisfield/Eastern Shore theme, and “look” like an oyster can (see the Tawes Heritage Musem for inspiration for example)
- Designs will be painted on both sides of a cylindrical fiberglass planter dimensions 18” Diameter x 20” Height) (container will be on display at the Corbin for any artist interested in viewing)
- All artist materials will be provided to each artist as needed
- Artists will receive $400 for each design approved by and painted for the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District
Please note you do not have to have your final design(s) ready to submit until Jan. 16, but need to inform us of your intent to participate in this project by Jan. 1. 2024 by completing the form below.
