An LSA is a group of teachers interested in promotion and advocacy of professional development in their specialist area. There shall be an elected executive with the equivalent title of at least three of the following CVTU members: Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer.
Once per year, Local Specialist Associations (LSAs) may apply for up to $200 in funding from the CVTU Professional Development Committee to support their activities. This application must be received by November 30th. (Note - this deadline is being waived for the 2023/24 school year ONLY.)
Activities may include:
- Providing learning opportunities
- Maintaining liason with specialty programs
- Maintaining liason with the BCTF PSA
- Initiating and maintaining contact with beginning teachers
- Maintaining a system of communication with its members
