  • Call for Abstracts - SmartMTX Tech Talks

    Please use this form to express interest to present a Tech Talk at the 2024 SmartMTX (May 15&16, 2024 - Red Deer, Alberta).

  • Guiding Criteria

    The SmartMTX Organizing Committee is asking technology leaders and Subject Matter Experts to share their knowledge and expertise with the SmartMTX audience. The aim of the SmartMTX Tech Talks is to introduce the audience to Smart Manufacturing solutions and go beyond the buzzwords by putting concepts into practical terms. The presenter should consider answering the following questions: What is the technology/solution? What are the use cases? What is the business case? What are advantages of the technology/benefits? What steps need to be taken before implementing the technology/solution? What are the first steps to implementing the tech/solution? What skills are required to utilize the technology to its fullest potential? Speakers/organizations may propose more than one Tech Talk. Target audience: company owners, executives, and manufacturing managers, typical company size 20-300 employees.
  • Proposal Selection Process

    The information provided will be evaluated based on how well it is aligned with the show's themes (smart manufacturing, automation, digital transformation, overcoming skilled labour shortage, diversifying manufacturing, and sustainability in manufacturing) and the overall value to show attendees. Priority will be given to registered exhibitors/sponsors. If two abstracts deal with similar subject matter or are scored similarly then date of submission will be used as the tie breaker.
  • Tech Talk Presentation Format

    There will be 14 Tech Talk slots available (30 minutes each including 5 minutes Q&A session). The room will be arranged in classroom style and will be equipped with podium, microphone/speakers, projector, and screen.
  • Speaker Etiquette

    By completing and returning this form the speaker acknowledges the following: Tech Talk presentations are first and foremost to be educational in nature to the target audience and promotion of commercial solutions should be a secondary purpose. The speaker agrees to adhere to a professional code of conduct and not put competitor products in a negative light.
