  • You must apply for readmission if you have not been continuously enrolled (excluding summer sessions), or if you left while on academic probation or suspension.

    To Apply for Readmission, please complete this form and all necessary paperwork and submit to:

  • If yes, for each crime you must provide a detailed explanation and copies of all official records related to your case. Include state, location, crime, dates, and case number. If applicable, provide the name and phone number of your parole or probation officer. Finally, by submitting your readmission application, you are giving NMT’s representatives authority to investigate your record and giving legal authorities permission to discuss your case with NMT’s representatives.

  • Petitions from students on Probation or Suspension must include all of the following:

    1. Readmission Application
    2. A one-page Appeal Letter that persuasively makes a case for Readmission. Please include the following:

      *An explanation of why you did poorly
      *An explanation of what you plan to do differently to be successful
      *Any other information that shows the committee you are ready to be a successful student at NMT.

    3.  A Supporting Letter from the Student’s Advisor. If you are changing majors, this letter can be from your old advisor, new advisor, or both.

    4. An Academic Warning Packet, which can be downloaded from https://www.nmt.edu/registrar/forms.php. If you are changing majors, the packet must be completed with/approved by your new advisor.

    5. Any documents the student thinks are relevant, such as medical documents or letters of support from faculty, counselors, or the Dean of Students.

    6. Official transcripts for any colleges/universities attended since leaving New Mexico Tech.

  • CONDITIONS OF READMISSION

    (Items 2a - 2f are Required for Students who left on Probation or Suspension)
  • 1. An Undergraduate student in Good Academic Standing will be readmitted by the Registrar's Office.

     An Undergraduate student who left while on Probation or who has been suspended may request readmission by a written petition to the Academic Standards and Admission Committee. Suspended students must still petition for readmission even if they served their suspension semester(s). Petitions must be submitted to the Registrar’s Office by 5:00pm of the following ststst dates: January 1 for Spring semester, July 1 for Fall semester, and June 1 for Summer semester, however early submission is suggested and highly encouraged. If these dates are missed or if your application is submitted incomplete; the Academic Standards and Admission Committee will not review your application for the semester in which you are requesting and you will have to submit a new application for the following semester to be considered at that time. Again we encourage you to submit all documentation in a complete manner well before the deadline.

  • 3. Upon submission of this document the readmission form will be sent electronically through email to the Office of the Registrar. Alternatively you may also download and print a PDF version of this form and mail or hand-deliver this completed form to the Office of the Registrar.  

    The registrars office is located at 801 Leroy Place, Socorro Nm 87801.  The phone number is 575-835-5133 x5564.  We are located in the Fidel building on the second floor in room 285.

     

    When readmitted from suspension status the student will be on probation and subject to all the rules and regulations of a student on probation. Failure to meet the minimum grade point average for academic good standing will result in a second suspension from the Institute for a period of a Full Academic year (Spring, summer, fall ) Credits earned at another institution during duration of suspension will not be accepted for transfer.
