Essay Contest 2024
General Guidelines
- All Key Clubs in the Georgia District that are in good standing are eligible for this award.
- Each author must be a member in good standing with Key Club International.
- This contest opportunity is specific to the GA District Convention and the winner does not move onto the International Convention, but their winning essay may be read at the Saturday evening Awards Gala depending on time.
- All entries shall be in good taste and appropriate to the standards set by the Guidebook of Key Club International.
- Suitable awards will be presented to first, second, and third place.
Contest Specifications
- The subject prompt for the essay contest is not released until the contest starts at District Convention. Participants will have one workshop block to compose their essay for judging. Participants will handwrite thier entries-- penmanship matters. If the essay is illegible, it will be disqualified.
- The subject matter of the composition must be original and completely developed by each author.
Judging
Judging and awarding points will be based on the following criteria:
Clarity of message and projection of ideas – 50 points
Depth of Key Club knowledge – 25 points
Originality – 25 points
Structure – Organization, grammar, transitions, flow, etc. – 25 points
The decision of the judges is final and no changes, alterations, or regradings will take place after the results have been certified by the judges of this contest.
