    Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid Course (Blended Learning)

    American Red Cross CPR classes are designed for the way you live, and learn. With instructor-led and blended learning (online and in person for skills) course formats, you can get the training you need on your schedule. From personalized learning to interactive scenarios to peer-to-peer learning and hands-on skills practice, our world-class instruction will give you the skills and confidence to perform life-saving procedures when it's needed the most. 

    When you understand first aid, you'll gain the ability to help those in need. Designed to help non-medical professionals provide assistance in times of crisis, our courses allow you to gain an understanding of first aid best practices for a wide range of conditions.

    NOTE:

    Once your registration is processed you will be contacted via email to schedule your skills session. Once the skills session date is set, you will receive access to the approximately three hour online portion of the class. This will need to be completed prior to your skills session. 

    When you receive information from the American Red Cross with your online access, it will reference purchasing a book. This is NOT required. We will provide a book during the skills session for you to reference. You can purchase one if you would like.

    Who should take this course:

    The OSHA compliant Red Cross Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, First Aid Course is designed for anyone who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

    What is covered:

    • Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
    • Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
    • Recognize when someone needs CPR
    • Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
    • Describe how to perform CPR with help from others
    • Give effective breaths using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
    • Demonstrate how to use an AED on an adult
    • Perform high-quality CPR for a child
    • Demonstrate how to use an AED on a child
    • Perform high-quality CPR for an infant
    • Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child
    • Demonstrate how to help a choking infant
    • Gain an understanding of first aid best practices for a wide range of conditions

    Class Logistics

    Blended learning classes mean you complete the core content online at your own pace prior to coming in for the skills portion of the curriculum. This allows you the flexibility to complete the majority of the class at your own pace and on your own. The skills portion needs to be scheduled in advance of starting the online component.

    Classes will begin promptly as scheduled. Late arrivals may need to reschedule at the sole discretion of the instructor. Instructors will not be able to reschedule you for another class. To reschedule please contact us by email education@caryems.com or telephone 919-380-6909.

    If you are having difficulty finding the location on the day of the class, please call 919-380-6909 (hit 7 after the recording) and we will be glad to assist with directions.

    Please do not bring non-registered students (including children) to class who are not actual participants. Children under the age of 18 are welcome to enroll in courses but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

    If someone would like to take the course with you please have them contact us and make sure to tell us they would like to be in the class with you and what day. We will do our best to accommodate them based on mandated student - instructor ratios. 

    Refund policy

    We understand that there could be a sudden change of plans in your schedule. Registration can be rescheduled one time before incurring additional fees.

    If you find you need to cancel your class:

    In person courses: No refunds will be granted if cancellation is requested within 48 hours of the original class. You may however reschedule one time without additional fees.  We cannot guarantee a time frame for the next available class.

    All refund requests must be sent in writing to education@caryems.com. Please include as much detail as possible. 

    Requirements

    All courses include free digital course materials. Physical manuals will be provided for use during the class for participant reference.


    Course Completion eCard

    Upon completion of your course your card or certificate will be issued within 3 business days via the email you supplied to us.

    Prohibitions

    No smoking, vaping, firearms (unless the person is a law enforcement/security officer authorized to carry a weapon), fireworks, candles, sparklers or illegal substances may be used or possessed on or around the building or property. Our building is a non-smoking venue. Smoking is permitted outside providing proper receptacles for trash are used.

    Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at any time. The use or possession of any illegal drugs or substances is strictly prohibited. 

    Indemnification

    The participant hereby indemnifies, and holds harmless Cary Area EMS and their members, agents, partners, vendors, and successors from and against any liabilities, costs, penalties, expenses, third-party claims, suits, demands, actions or other proceedings arising out of and/or resulting from the class, including but not limited to any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, emotional or exemplary damages.

    Applicable Law; Consent to Jurisdiction

    By completing this class registration, you agree that the statutes and laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to the conflict of laws principles thereof, will apply to all matters relating to this class registration, this Agreement and Waiver, and the Terms of Use. You agree that exclusive jurisdiction for any dispute resides in the courts of Wake County in the State of North Carolina and you further agree and expressly consent to the exercise of personal jurisdiction in the courts of Wake County in the State of North Carolina in connection with any dispute including any claim involving Cary Area EMS, Access Care, CareJet or their affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, contractors, officers, and directors.

    Registration

    You represent and warrant that you have full legal authority to complete this class registration on behalf of yourself and/or any party you are registering, including full authority to make use of the credit or debit card to which registration fees will be charged. 

    If you are registering a child under the age of 18 or an incapacitated adult, you represent and warrant that you are the parent or legal guardian of that individual and have the legal authority to enter into this agreement on their behalf and by proceeding with this class registration. By registering a child under 18, you agree and consent to the collection of that child’s information, which you provide for the purposes of registration.

      BLENDED LEARNING (In Person Skills Session) Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid CourseThe Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid course trains participants to give CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Through our first aid certification classes you'll learn how to respond to specific situations, which will help you care for people in crisis as they wait for medical professionals to arrive. Once you successfully complete the Adult First Aid/CPR/AED online course you will need to attend the skills session in person on the date selected above.
