Aaron Story was a beloved resident of ROAR Florida, Inc.(previously
Noah’s Ark of Central Florida, Inc.) and a longtime volunteer with City of
Lakeland Police and Los Lunas New Mexico Fire Department. Aaron sadly
passed away unexpectedly in February 2023.
The Aaron Story Good Citizen Award was created in his honor and
recognizes individuals who go above and beyond for their fellow citizens
and community…
SELECTION CRITERIA
To qualify for this recognition award, the nominee must be a City of Lakeland resident and should display or meet at least one of the following criteria:
Citizenship – dependable, demonstrate respect for people, property and the law
Leadership – demonstrate ability to work with and motivate others, has sound values, good judgment, a sense of fairness and earned the respect of his or her peers
Attitude – courteous, helpful & caring in relationships with others, honest and trustworthy to everyone
Service – readily and unselfishly helps others, an active volunteer in the community
Self-reliance – accountable and responsible for their actions
NOMINATIONS
• The nomination period for 2024 will open January 1st 2024 and close May 31st 2024
• The applications will be reviewed and a final selection made in August 2024
• The nominator is responsible for submitting a complete application with as much information as possible about the nominee, explain their contribution and describe how they impacted their fellow citizens and/or community.
THE COMMITTEE
The Aaron Story Good Citizen Award Committee is comprised of six (6) individuals, two (2) are from ROAR FLORIDA Inc., two (2) from Lakeland Police Department and two (2) from Lakeland Fire Department.
RECOGNITION
The recipient will be announced and honored in September (Aaron’s birth month). The award will be given in the form of an engraved plaque and $250 in cash.
