You are getting ready to do the job of taking apart a pipe. It has had a liquid in it before and anther crew member told you that it was a cleaning chemical. How do you continue? * This field is required.
Get a Safety Data Sheet (SDS). It will tell you what PPE to wear and what precautions to take.
If it is locked out just take normal precautions.
Ask your co-worker what precautions sound good. The line is probably empty.

You are at the fab area getting ready to drill and see a generic spray bottle of probably cutting fluid. What is next? * This field is required.
Spray some and take note of the color and smell to verify the contents.
Don’t use it. Just keep looking and leave the unmarked bottle where it is.
You remember that all containers must be labeled. Take the bottle to someone in charge so they can correct it. This could be an accident waiting to happen.

You notice pictograms on the label of a barrel that is close to the area you will be using a grinder. The pictogram shows a picture of a flame. Now what?* This field is required.
Is the barrel sealed? If so continue but try to minimize sparks.
That label means flammable material. Stop work and get someone to check it out.
The label means that the barrel is fire safe. Do nothing and continue.

Every chemical in the workplace must have a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Where do you find them?* This field is required.
These are always in your supervisor’s gang box.
We don’t have access to these because SDSs are only for the customer.
Ask your supervisor. Each location stores SDSs differently. They will be provided to us upon request.

You notice that a pipe has drained some liquid onto the ground. You don’t want to slip or get it on you so you think you should clean it up. * This field is required.
Stop. All chemicals are not alike. Special clean up may be needed. Check the SDS.
Use lots of water and spray down the area to ensure the chemical is gone.
