Sunday March 17 at 11:59pm: EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR ENTRY
Early submissions are welcome!
By early April: NOTIFICATION
The Fitton Center will make every effort to notify applicants of committee decisions by early April.
Committee decisions may be finalized over the course of several meetings.
Artists will be notified of final decisions through email and will learn their assigned neighborhood during notification.
By April 30: LETTER OF AGREEMENT
signed and returned by artist by April 30
April – September: PROJECT CREATION/ PRODUCTION
In general, selected artists generate art for this exhibition April – September (six months) in their assigned neighborhoods. Images captured before this timeframe are allowable if they contribute to the proposed series.
June 16: PROGRESS REPORT
Selected artist progress report and two exhibition image jpegs due to curator.
September 21 – 25: ART DELIVERY TO FITTON CENTER
September 26 – 28: 2024 FOTOFOCUS BIENNIAL OPENING PROGRAM
region-wide at multiple venues, featuring lectures, tours, screenings, performances, receptions - https://www.fotofocus.org/biennial/2024/
September 30 – October 18: ART INSTALLED IN FITTON CENTER GALLERIES
Saturday October 19, 5:30 – 7:30pm: GALLERY OPENING
October 19, 2024 – January 3, 2025: EXHIBITION ON VIEW
Group tours and field trips: ongoing through run of exhibition
SELECTION PROCESS
- All lens-based media is acceptable for consideration.
- Artists are encouraged to let us know if they can supply equipment for multi-media work or projected image work.
- Proposals are selected based on originality, concept, craft, display preparation plans and how the artist intends to respond to the 2024 FotoFocus Biennial theme backstories in conjunction with the Hamilton community.
- Selections are made by a committee of experienced lens-based artists, curators and others with knowledge of and enthusiasm for lens-based art.
