Introduction to Burnout Self-Assessment
Dear Doctor,
As healthcare professionals your well being is paramount improtance. The demands of medical practice, especially in recent years (post-covid), have led to unprecedented levels of burnout among physicians especially younger lot.
This brief self-assessment will help you evaluate current burnout risk level. The assessment takes approximately 3-5 minutes to complete and consists of 15 simple questions about your experiences at work.
What is Burnout?
There are three key features of Burnout. Burn-out is included in the 11th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) as an occupational phenomenon.

Burn-out is defined in ICD-11 as follows:
“Burn-out is a syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed. It is characterized by three dimensions:
- feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion;
- increased mental distance from one’s job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job; and
- reduced professional efficacy.
