• Wayback Machine Exclusion Request

  • For the purposes of this request form, “control”/"ownership" of a site, page, or other archived material includes registering, and holding for the relevant time period, any one of the following:

    • The site’s domain name
    • The site’s account with its Web Host
    • The user account on a social media platform or other account-based online platforms that directly posted the pages or other material you seek to have excluded

The Wayback Machine is a non-profit project of the Internet Archive which, in partnership with more than 1,000 universities, libraries, and other agencies, archives the digital history of the Internet for free access by the world. Globally, the Wayback Machine is accepted as a reliable resource for preserving society’s cultural history.

As you prepare your request, please consider the broad public benefit that an extensive and complete web archive provides to current and future generations. Reviewing and processing requests requires significant resources. When requests can be reduced, limited, or simplified, it enables the Internet Archive to direct more of its resources to its core mission of preservation and access. We truly appreciate your consideration and cooperation in these efforts.

Please review the form carefully and fill it out truthfully before submitting your answers. You may only submit a request to exclude URLs for one domain or user account at a time.

  • Select and follow the applicable section(s) below for the URL(s) you wish to exclude from the Wayback Machine - we ask that you do not submit screenshots in relation to any of these verification options:

  • (PLEASE NOTE: The simple mention of someone's name/username, and/or a hyperlink/redirect between websites/webpages/accounts in itself is typically not sufficient to have archives excluded.)
