Blue Envelope Program
The Berlin Police Department has adopted a program that is gaining attention throughout the state. The program is call the "Blue Envelope". The Blue Envelope offered by the Berlin Police Department is geared towards assisting those individuals on the Autism Spectrum who drive a vehicle. Drivers who have Autism that interact with police may not feel comfortable with the encounter or communicating with the officer. During the law enforcement encounter, the Driver can provide the officer with the Blue Envelope which will have key indicators to assist the driver and the officer through the process, as well their motor vehicle documents.

With this program which is supported by Autism New Jersey, The Berlin Police Department is proactive with implementing new ideas and trends that will assist all citizens who work, live and play in Berlin. Through positive communication techniques, specialized training, transparency and community partnerships, the Berlin Police Department strives to provide a level of commitment and service intended to support all.
