• Parent / Carer Training Sessions

    Please complete the following information to confirm your registration to any of our Parent / Carer Training Sessions which will be held online on Zoom. These sessions are not recorded, but we share the slides after each session. Our training sessions are aimed at parents and carers of children and young people with additional needs.
  • Introduction to Social Stories

    This session will explore how you can use social stories and chat cartoons to support your child’s communication. 

  • Supporting Play

    This session will explore the essence of what play is and how to create a playful space. 

  • Managing Children's Emotions

    This session will aim to equip parents and caregivers to manage their children's emotions in a constructive and healthy way.

    Clare is a speaker, storyteller and author. She has written children's picture books that address everyday big emotions and core values. She is also the author of a handbook for adults, which offers a step by step approach on how to have conversations that promote emotional growth. Before becoming a full time writer Clare worked as an Occupational Therapist and Life Coach. These two careers have given her good foundations for writing about emotions and effective communication.   • Speech Sounds

    This session will explore the process of supporting your child with speech sound difficulties. 

  • Selective Eating

    This session will look at Selective Eating and how to support your child in this area.

  • Using Visuals to Support Communication 

    This session will explore a range of different visuals and how they can be used to support attention, understanding and expressive communication.

  • Sensory Processing

    This session will be looking at how we process sensory information, what it looks like to have difficulties in sensory processing, and discussing some helpful tips for you to try at home.

  • Dressing Skills

    This session will explore different barriers that may prevent your child from participating and look at strategies to try with your child to help them to become more independent.

  • Vocabulary Development

    This session will explore strategies for supporting your child to develop their vocabulary including addressing word finding difficulties.

  • Supporting Your Child's Sleep

    This session will explore strategies that can support going to bed, falling asleep and being able to self-soothe to fall back asleep again.

  • Handwriting Skills

    This session will explore what the foundational skills for handwriting are and how we support our children with their letter formations, handwriting grip, placing their letters on the line and fluency of writing.

  • EHCP Q&A

    This session will be an open Q&A with Esther Salter from Associate Solicitor at Irwin Mitchell LLP Public Law team, specialising in Education Law. Esther has experience representing parents, students and Local Authorities in all types of SEND First Tier Tribunal appeals with particular expertise in complex residential and extended appeals with health and social care issues.
